There is no single “natural color” that works for every non-infill artificial turf application. In general, multi-tone turf tends to look more natural than uniform single-color turf.
For residential gardens and landscaping, combinations such as grass green + yellow-green + a small amount of thatch-colored fibers can create a more varied appearance. Matte or low-gloss fibers can also reduce the overly plastic appearance sometimes associated with synthetic turf.
However, there is no universal rule that the thatch content should always be 10–20%. The appropriate color mix depends on the product design, target landscape, climate and customer’s visual preference.
Quick Reference: Color Selection by Application
| Application | Recommended Color Direction | Main Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Residential garden / landscaping | 2–3 tones: grass green + yellow-green + subtle thatch | Natural variation and visual fullness |
| Rooftop / balcony / terrace | Medium green + light green | Fresh, bright appearance in smaller spaces |
| Children’s areas / kindergarten | Bright grass green or 2-tone green | Clear, cheerful appearance; safety requirements remain separate |
| Pet areas | Medium/deep green + subtle thatch | Practical appearance and easier visual masking of debris |
| Football / sports fields | Field green, often 2-tone | Consistent appearance and clear field markings |
